On the 4th of May Sankalpa Addiction Service in collaboration with the Recovery College hosted "Stories of Recovery from Substance Use & Mental Health through Expressive Art & Visualisations" This event was an opportunity for peers from Sankalpa's day programmes to showcase their own journeys of recovery from mental health and substance use issues. The exhibition was a space for attendees and passers by to take a moment to appreciate the art that has been created in acknowledgement of the sometimes painful but rewarding journey that recovery brings. Sankalpa are a service that work with people predominantly from the Finglas/Cabra area and are strong advocates for promoting recovery in the community. Sankalpa place an emphasis on showcasing that Recovery is possible and should always be acknowledged and celebrated in our community. Exhibits like this work towards breaking down the stigma that is attached to people who find themselves experiencing difficulties with their mental health and substances. We are grateful to the peers who created the wonderful pieces of art and to those who spoke and shared their journeys with us. Never underestimate the value of HOPE - Hearing Other People's Experience. [gallery ids="2766,2767,2768,2769,2770,2771,2772,2773"]
