Month: November 2018

Our North Dublin Trialogue group are hosting an extra meeting prior to Christmas.  The proposed the theme is: How to keep well at Christmas.

We are going to meet on Monday 10th December 2018 at 6.30 pm in All Hallows, DCU, Grace Park Road and would be delighted to see you there.
Please feel free to circulate this information to your colleagues, family and friends.

What is Trialogue??
In Trialogue we come together, sit in a circle and talk together – but most importantly we listen together.  Typically, conversations about mental health take place within three groups  – people experiencing mental health difficulties, those who love and care for them and professionals
The hope is to share, to gain insight and to learn from each other and with each other. If you have an interest in mental health, your own, that of a friend or a family member, or of the wider society we all live in, or work in the field of mental health then you might be interested.

Words Matter

When it comes to mental health and mental ill health, the words we use matter more than we think.
The way we talk about mental health and people experiencing mental distress can reinforce negative
stereotypes and be stigmatising, without us even realising it.
Language is a powerful tool for creating awareness and fighting stigma, so here are a few tips on how to be mindful of the words we use and how to avoid causing offence when we don’t mean to. We have tried to pick terms that are non-stigmatising, but we understand that each person is unique, and some people may not identify with the language chosen here.

No more throw away people – coproduction.

Thanks to Patrick in EVOLVE Recovery College for sharing this coproduction video with us, we love it.
